Self-defence
The goalis gettinghome.
You don’t learn to throw punches. You learn to see danger in time, to keep it at a distance and, only if you have to, to react and get away.
With Luca Appignani, self-defence instructor of levels I, II and III
a trial

How you learn
Three things, in this order. The better you learn the first two, the less you will need the last.
The first space to protect is the one between you and the other person. You learn to read it, to hold it and to take it back.
Voice, posture and breath, while the adrenaline rises. Many situations end right here, with no contact.
A few simple techniques that hold up under stress: breaking a grip, covering up, making space and leaving.
“I didn’t learn to throw punches. I learned to read situations before they become a problem.”
Feel
safe.
Before you start
Do I need to be strong or fit?
No. The techniques are made precisely for people who are smaller or weaker than whoever attacks them.
Is there physical contact?
Yes, gradual and controlled: grips, pushes, releases. You set the pace.
What if I freeze when it happens for real?
Almost everyone does. That is why the training also covers handling adrenaline, repeating situations until the body recognises them.
From what age can I start?
From 14, with one-to-one lessons. For younger people, let’s talk about it.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the path and on how often you train each week. We go through it at the trial, with no surprises.
